Zacatecas is one of the most beautiful states of Mexico, bordered by the states of San Luis Potosi, Jalisco, Durango and Coahuila. Its main cities are Zacatecas, Fresnillo, Guadalupe, Apozol and Sombrerete.
Those who visit Zacatecas can appreciate the artistic talent of the local people. Creativity can be seen in the finishing touches of the magnificent pieces of silver, cantera stone and fabrics; when it comes to gastronomy, the popular dish “Asado de Boda” stands out, named after the popular dish prepared for weddings, without leaving aside Mexican food such as: menudo, pozole rojo, enchiladas and the classic stuffed “gorditas”, among many others; there’s no more popular musical piece in Zacatecas than the “Marcha de Zacatecas”, a song that keeps being played by the groups and bands that take part of the famous night tour called “El Tamborazo”, a tradition where the tourist walks the streets and old buildings with his mezcal in hand.
A Little Bit of Apozol…
Apozol is located south state of Zacatecas, 190 km from the capital city of Zacatecas and almost in the border with the state of Jalisco. Apozol is surrounded by beautiful rock formations like the walls of the Juchipila Canyon, the Morones and the Nochistlan Mountain Ranges; the Juchipila River goes north through south with five dams that provide water to hundreds of families and serve for tourism as well. For instance, the Achoquen Dam, nestled between two rocky elevations, fed by several rivers and a spring, becomes a true temptation for ecotourism and photo safaris.
The Mixton, La Taberna and Apostol Antigua Hills, as well as Zacamanuel, El Valle Encantado, La Tirica and La Vinata are places for hikers and Eco tourists who can contemplate a great variety of plants, from trees of fine woods to desert plants and a great diversity of animals, from reptiles to ducks and doves.
Nevertheless, Apozol also has several temples built from the XVI to the XX century, interesting because of their architectural details, such as:
Temple of San Miguel
Temple of San Jose
Temple of Purisima Concepcion
Temple of San Francisco de Asis
Temple of Our Lady of Rosario
Temple of San Isidro Labrador
Other tourist attractions are the city building, the ex-Hacienda de la Purisima, ex Hacienda San Jose de la Labor and the kiosk in the main plaza.
Dare to visit a truly mexican destination and enjoy a trip among beautiful landscapes, impressive architectural beauties, delightful culture and great attentions for visitors.
